New Mexico Mycological Society - July 1999
July Meeting
What do the Pentagon, the Kremlin, and NMMS have in common? Find out at the July meeting, when Chris Kerns will introduce and discuss Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS). Members who own GPS units should make sure to bring them to this meeting. Hopefully this will provide us samples of different models.
Don't miss this talk: Tuesday July 6th, 7:30pm, at the Natural History Museum.
Last Month's Video
Although it's something out of my control, I'd still like to apologize for the poor acoustics in the Traveling Exhibit Hall (or as museum folks call it, the T.rex room) at the Natural History Museum. I had hoped that we could meet regularly in the Annex until the construction was complete, but that did not work out.
A number of members at the June Meeting stated that the enjoyed the Jozseph Schultz video, but had difficulty hearing it. We decided to purchase the video from NAMA so that our members could watch it again -- or for the first time. Please contact David Wallis or Larry Weingarten if you would like to "check out" this video.
Foray Details
  • Please note that the Foray Registration deadline is August 3rd (the day of the August meeting). Those submitting registrations after that date will pay an additional $25 per person late fee.
  • In response to the somewhat primitive quarters available at Camp Shaver, some members have expressed their intent to rent rooms somewhere else during the Foray. Bob Wilson sent a list of alternative facilities in the Jemez Springs area.
  • It looks as though Carlo may host a dinner this year at Villa Fontana. Those interested should contact Pat Brannen.
