NMMS August Meeting
  • Our next meeting will on Tuesday, August 7th, at the NM Museum of Natural History. We will spend part of the time addressing our upcoming Foray. Our program will be Steve Trudell's "Diversity of the Mushroom World" (NAMA Program #1).
Mushroom Hike with the New Mexico Mountain Club
  • I hope that some NMMS will join Terri & me on Sunday, August 12th, for a hike we are leading for the New Mexico Mountain Club. If you can't join us, at least pray for rain before the hike (please--not while we're hiking), so that we might have an abundance and variety of fungi to see and discuss. Visit the hike webpage for more details:

  • The July Meeting
  • I wish to express particular gratitude to Marjorie Lutz, who welcomed us into her home for our July meeting in Santa Fe. I would also like to thank those members who attended, adding with their presence to the magic of a beautiful summer evening. The focus was on food, friendship, and lively conversation. Fresh apricot desserts were among the occasions's culinary highlights, and Terri and I felt fortunate to be able to share a recipe made with fresh Laetiporus cincinnatus (chicken-of-the-woods) which we brought back from the NAMA Foray in Minnesota.
Field Trips / Cerro Grande Post-Burn Survey
  • Although conditions were quite dry for our last study visit to Los Alamos on June 2nd, I expect that the recent rains will reward those who visit the area in the weeks ahead. I may venture up to our study area on Wednesday, August 8th. I'll discuss that at the Tuesday night meeting and also post the information on our Field Trip Webpage:
