Conditions:
Thurs, 15 April:
Stream is running energetically along
Bill Spring Trail. Quite a bit of residual snow in shaded areas.
Expect to walk through running water, mud, and occasional snowbanks.
Snowshoes not required, but wear waterproof boots.
Fri, 16 April: There's a very good chance that it will be
raining in the Sandias on Saturday. Pack a raincoat.
Fungi:
The scouting trip on Thursday revealed one Discina and lots of
desiccated Auricularia.
During this time in past years, we have encountered some Peziza, and
occasionally find snowbank fungi such as Discina and Caloscypha. We may also
encounter fresh fruitings of
Auricularia (wood ears). We expect that some members would also
be delighted to chase down and capture some slime molds.
Equipment:
Sturdy waterproof footwear and plenty of drinking water.
Current weather conditions suggest that packing some raingear would be
a good idea as well.
